Premiere: Datashock – “Kanal Telemedial Energieausgleich”.

Saarlouis, Germany-based psychedelic collective Datashock officially dropped their latest double LP Pyramiden Von Gießen last week, an astonishing collection of eight delightful tracks ranging from five to 20 and a half minutes. On the album, the group’s experimental psych rock builds sweeping soundscapes with slow-burning, wide arching melodic compositions that are occasionally interrupted by heavy drones and invariably underpinned by stunningly complex rhythmic arrangements.
The free-floating eight and a half minute jam Kanal Telemedial Energieausgleich has the band most heavily and maturely drawing on kraut and kosmische influences with its turgescent layers of analogue synth patterns and restraint, otherworldly vocals that in the piece’s second half give way to tribal drums and a choir of distant, ethereal murmurings.
