Premiere: Machine Birds – “Time (Vintersol remix)”.

Yesterday, after an impeccable concert with Boston’s Arms & Sleepers in the cozy Berlin bar Schokoladen, I randomly got into an conversation about the northern lights, aurora borealis, a question I often encounter when ‘unveiling’ my Norwegian nationality: what is it like, really? Well, that is just the thing. The first time you see the northern lights roll over the sky, it is painfully difficult to explain yourself in an eloquent way, being literally stuck with deep feeling of timelessness and (forgive me for sounding stupidly philosophic here), fulfilling emptiness.

As you now might’ve already guessed, there is of course a reason why I mentioned the sight of this spectacular, mysterious light eruption in the first place. Indeed, there is all reason to have big expectations to the Oslo based soundscaper Vintersol (“Winter Sun”), and not to forget the lovely Bergen based dream pop duo Machine Birds; but Vintersol’s take on their track “Time” (which we also premiered last fall), is something of a different universe, hiding something bigger behind that ‘typical’ beauty of ambient music, something which makes Vintersol a visual composer just as much as a soundscaper. Enough emotional rabble; listen to the beauty for yourself below.

Also, Machine Birds’ EP Save Yourself will be out in April on Nabovarsel, produced by Njaal from Young Dreams and NFOP favourites Put Your Hands Up For Neo-Tokyo.
