Postiljonen: “Kebnekaise”.

31 Dec 2011 — Tonje Thilesen
Since their sudden emerge earlier this year, the Swedish/Norwegian pop sensation Postijonen have already put out a rather stunning collection of tracks and videos on their vimeo page, however might their newest creation "Kebnekaise" (below) be their very best one so far. A few hours ago they also uploaded the 'official Anti-War video' entitled "Satisfaction" — also worth to devote your eyes and ears to. Seriously though, there's no doubt that these guys will shine in 2012. Mix: Welcome 2012.

They say the world is gonna end next year, which really is a pity if you think about it as we're just getting started. 2011 has been very good to us, letting us organize and present a bunch of rad shows in our cities, giving us some opportunities to write for other lovely folks, even entrusting us with the soundtrack of Berlin, but above all, seeing this little blog thrive and prosper in a way we'd never have imagined (thanks to you, that is). Now that we're both located in Berlin, in 2012 we'll bring you more amazing sessions and more interviews and features. Apart from that, there'll be some rather major changes pretty soon that we can't talk about right now, so we'd be more than happy if you stayed with us. Have a great party tonight and a good start into next year. And if you need a soundtrack for your dinner or any pre-party preparations, search no longer: 01 Femminielli - Hotel Suite 02 Grimes - My Sister Says the Saddest Things 03 d'Eon feat. Granit: “Aresta”.

31 Dec 2011 — Henning Lahmann
This one's spreading really fast, and rightly so - of course everything here screams (it has been mentioned elsewhere) "Beach House" or "Boy Friend", but whatever the inspiration, the two Barcelonian girls Alba and Cristina aka Granit deliver an honestly beautiful dream-pop gem, and not least the fact that they sing in Catalan naturally sets them apart from their US contemporaries. The duo will release their debut 10 inch this January, and a split single with the wonderful Ex-Pocahaunted member Diva will follow a little later. Very nice. Campfires: “Distant Hills”.

30 Dec 2011 — Henning Lahmann
Chicago's psych pop great Jeff Walls just gave me a heads-up to the latest offering of his project Campfires, a nine-track cassette named Slaughter Tropes that contains both brief instrumental musings and his signature lo-fi jangling anthems, of which I enjoyed "Distant Hills" the most (a wonderful Revolver-era Beatles homage) but that is truly rewarding all along the line. You may order the tape or download the whole thing for free via Campfires' bandcamp. Let some sunshine in. Video Premiere: I†† / Skitter split.

29 Dec 2011 — Henning Lahmann
Winter is coming, and darkness is upon us. While anno domini 2011 is breathing its last breaths, UK imprint Clan Destine is unleashing its gloomiest and most threatening release in awhile (and that really says something here) with a split cassette between Richmond, Kentucky's evil propagations of I†† (Informational Terrorism Transmissions) and Glasgow's Skitter. While the a-side comprises eight pitch-black tracks with names that naturally feature a lot of symbols and numbers, the flipside contains one single 30-minute track of menacing drone and noise. Below, get a first, bitter yet intriguing taste of sheer relentlessness with the videos for I††'s "C ø † † ø N", shot by Cassandra Eujean Lewis, featuring effects by Rocky Borders and acting by Hannah Mason Egger, and for an edit of Skitter's "Protest/Checks", brilliantly visualized by the artist together with Ela Orleans. The I†† / Skitter split tape is out now on Clan Destine Records. Edition of 75. I†† - C ø † † ø N Skitter - Protest/Checks (edit) Read more → Winter is coming, and darkness is upon us. Peaking Lights: “Shines For U (Innergaze Remix)”.

29 Dec 2011 — Henning Lahmann
You might have seen this already, but everyone's favorite dance label 100% SILK is about to drop a new 12 inch with four remixes of tracks off Peaking Lights' stellar (though slightly overhyped) 936, considered by many one of this year's best albums (not by us anyway, but we do like it). The reworks were of course done by fellows from the delicious SILK roster, including Innergaze, who've contributed this very worthwhile interpretation of "All The Sun That Shines". Pre-order the vinyl now over here, it's highly recommended. Premiere: Holygrailers - “what a fool (ft trizz)”.

26 Dec 2011 — Tonje Thilesen
The brilliant producer Holygrailers from North Carolina has been keeping quiet ever since we heard the bass-heavy track "Fumes" about three months ago; around the same time when I (secretly) first heard the draft to this very track below. After a pretty long break of polishing and mastering, we're finally allowed to share this amazing little gem that might just be one of Holygrailers' finest so far, obviously leaning in the direction of James Blake's minimal dubstep, however with a more organic and wider sound, in a way. Pretty is it, nonetheless. The track will be featured alongside three other brand new tunes from Holygrailers truly (fully entitled Black Everything EP) and can be ordered straight from Locus Recordings' websites as pretty little CD-R's as of today. While you're at it, have a peak at the likewisely gorgeous "letting u go" below. Dirty Beaches: “Golden Blonde”.

24 Dec 2011 — Henning Lahmann
Absolutely devastated and put into a very serious state of pre-holidays anxiety right now by this newly mixed version of Dirty Beaches' "Golden Blonde", which originally appeared on Alex Zhang Hungtai's first album under that moniker, Old Blood, released 2007 via Fixture Records. Alex himself has pointed to this gorgeous Yours Truly video of him performing the song in San Francisco earlier this year. Had already forgotten about this gem: Whatever you're celebrating in particular, have a good one folks, and take care.
