this is so amazing. wow. i don’t even know what to say – i really love gem club, ever since i first heard ‘acid and everything’ a long time ago – i showed that song (and then the album) to all my friends and they loved it. i loved it. i tried to remix a song from it once but it felt wrong because the original was so beautiful so i stopped.
my friend peter booked these guys for a show at my old school after i’d transferred and i was so mad, but i recently found out they’re coming to my favorite baltimore venue with some of my favorite bands, and i absolutely will not miss it.
if i don’t win – that’s okay, i’ll just buy all this stuff on my own when i save up the money. i wanna support. but if i do win – i’m moving in a little over a week, and when i set up my record player, this would be the first album i play on it in my new apartment. i think it would help fix all my ‘moving to a new place’ anxiety.

Well, these would all go great with my Gem Club pillow case…

  • Existenchill

    *ahem*
everyone is going to laugh at this, but I HAVE NO SHAME.

christopher, you’r voice is absolutely incredible. you inspre me everytime i hear you to create music and to pour my heart out into it. and kristen, i could only dream one day i could have my way with strings the way you do. now that i have softened you, it is time for real talk:

the past two years have been very rough for me. my brother has cerebral palsy and i have been taking care of him when my family is not.. i will play your songs for him and a gleen comes over his eyes and he looks happy. (he loves you and opera. go figure) also, i fell in love four years ago with a person that i could see myself with forever.. not one day passes that i dont think about him..

all of these things are very famous in my mind and sometimes it is hard to just be told that things will be okay. no one has succeeded at doing this;nothing but your music.

a few nights ago, it was cold out and i biked to my college and after listening to you guys, i felt almost a catharsis.. or maybe an epiphany that night

    that i wasn’t completely alone.

if i win this box said, i will play these cds for my brother who i can guarantee would make him the happiest kid ever. and if i won this, well it would make me happy.

your music brings peace into my life that i really can’t describe in a paragraph like this.
i only wish to hug the both of you.

            -mike

I should win because I’ve just started knitting socks while listening to Gem Club. Everyone is always requesting a pair from me, so I have a lot more knitting to do.

I’m not sure what to say.
I only know Gem Club since 2 month.
But i really fell in love with their music. I really like their soft way of playing and singing : i could lie in a field made of their song and my day would be perfect :)

Thank you Gem Club for what you are doing with your music.
Thank you No Fear of Pop for this contest

Well, I’m not sure I “should” win anything, but I’d love to.  I agree with Matt also, it’s the perfect Fall record.  Lovely.  Exquisite package design and photography as well.  If I don’t win, I’ll HAVE to order the white vinyl. Viva Massachusetts!

    This giveaway is fantastic!
There’s honestly no reason for why I should win other than that I really want it. I Have extensive love for simple, beautiful music – and that’s exactly what Gem Club creates. It’s enchanting. Their music is music that I can be at peace with and seek refuge in when I’m feeling down.
If I don’t win, I’ll most likely buy it’s natural to want to support musicians inspire you and have the ability to make you feel connected to the song and feel emotion.

    Last
goodbyes never broke the silence. And hibernation of blackened cities could not
disrupt the saddest lyric in a voice.  They
spoke of England yet were still oceans apart, words were useless and in her
mind things were made up.  There was so
much there and so must lost, kings and revolutions a minor conversation and the
    flicker of ones illumination diminished.

    Salmon skies
bruised by the dawn revealed the ageless city and he looked out talking to no
one.  He wondered what could have been,
reminded by nostalgic airports and windless ceilings, boring movies and delayed
    foreign accents.

She was everywhere.  It was mindless tales of romantic films and
knowing that every song ever written was about love.   Titles with the names over themselves and
self help books pervaded the space.
Notebooks were full of empty sentences and ink bladded scribbles.

    Sitting
alone in a room of desolate chrome luggage machines, he watched the window
cleaners and admired the family portraits in lights.  Girls walked past carrying puppies with
    cherry licorice and blank thoughts.
White neon framed the ceiling in a racetrack, and everywhere was
camouflage in paper rolls promising an imagination held.

    Finally, he
sat and stared, thinking of her, of this feeling, cool glass at his feet.  Slivers of space peeled the noon and hinges
were abused.  This place of clear and vanishing
footsteps, the air burst electricity and coffee machines, stone gardens and
family picnics.  Mobile phones and pink
corduroy backpacks, concreted divided forests, and tropical plants looked like
sofa beds and puffy chairs.  All melted into
a consuming land, everything saved to be forgotten……………………

    for me, this
    is listening to gem club

I have a been a fan of Gem Club since the amazing BriAnna Olson introduced me to them! The perfect relaxing music for a lovely fall evening. xx

  • http://twitter.com/cardooons CRDNS

i’ve been a long-time supporter/fan of gem club. i played a track from ‘acid and everything’ on one of my first radio shows last fall & introduced a lot of other djs at my college station, kzuu 90.fm, to their music. i listened to the ‘acid and everything’ ep countless times & have been telling everyone i know about it. just this week i reviewed a promo copy of ‘breakers’ to add to rotation at kzuu next week & i’ve been telling everyone i know about it. it’s impossible to describe the way gem club’s music makes me feel; it’s perfect music for this time of year & any time of year. it’s one of the most beautiful albums i’ve heard this year so far & it will remain that way. every time i listen to ‘breakers’ i stop in my steps & listen more intently than i listen to anything else. gem club’s music was a huge inspiration for me when i started making my own music earlier this year. i could go on and on about this but for the sake of whoever is reading i’ll just stop now.

  • Rory

Wowee, this is great. Just bought a record player, and cannot think of gentler hands than Gem Club’s to pop my vinyl cherry. Loved ‘Acid and Everything’, have been eagerly awaiting ‘Breakers’ (so close!) and my walls are a bit barren… also, would dig a Gem Club shirt.

Hello.. I don’t really believe myself to be worthy, necessarily, but I would absolutely love to have this gift. Ever since I discovered Gem Club, I’ve been relying on their website and YouTube to provide me with my (more than one) daily fix of their unique sound.
I appreciate their hum of emotion and I feel it in every bone I have, it seeping into my soul the entire time. The thoughts Gem Club’s music gives me are like nothing I’ve experienced with any other music. If you pick me, thank you, if not, keep doing the wonderful things you are.

I just actually discover Gem Club. I’m glad I did. With poetic lyrics and beautiful violin playing, they are quickly becoming my favorite band. I would love to add breakers to my collection of music. It would make me so happy.

Since as long ago as I can remember I’ve listened to music as I fall asleep.  Whether it be through stereo speakers in my room, ear buds and a walkman/discman/mp3 player on camping trips, or car speakers on late night drives with good friends, music has become something I cannot fall asleep without.  I first heard “252″ a couple months ago and ever since, I’ve included it on every “fall asleep” playlist I’ve made since then.  Your music is beautiful and breath-taking, and it transports me into the world of the mystical and the magical.  Thank you!

Also, I live in a hick town in Alberta, Canada, and I can’t take all the Nickelback and Brad Paisley they play around here…I NEED YOUR MUSIC!!!

  • Isabelle

Norwegian summer is long gone and autumn is soon to turn into a raging winter. In times of desperation I will need the beautiful and wonderfully captivating sounds of Gem Club to help me dream the cold away.

  • accession

Because I run a gem club.

  • http://twitter.com/irenemarie_ Irene Hepler

Because I don’t need to face another gut-wrenching dilemma of whether to play such a beautiful vinyl or keep in mint condition.  My collection is incomplete without that white limited edition!

  • Peter Kaiser

I would absolutely love to receive this bundle. I’ve loved Gem Club for a year now after seeing them with my friend Gabrielle in Burlington, Vermont. I started a correspondence with Christopher for a long while before I finally got the chance to book them at my school outside of NYC this past spring (Sam Ray mentions me below!). Their friend Bri Olson, a video artist from NYC, got to come and show all of her music videos she made for them in the background to their songs. The show was amazing and every new song sounded incredible. —-> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BF64e9nnVkQ&feature=channel_video_title

  • Jhacket2

I think that I should win the Gem Club package because I have loved the band since accidentally discovering them in a time of need in my life. Spine and Fingertips (feat Holy Ghosts) moved me so much and I will follow the band till the end.

but in since reading the comments, I believe Existenchill should win the package. Thanks

    -Josh H

    • Existenchill

we share similiar paths. thank you so much for recommending me man.

  • David

Because I’m listening to Acid and Everything for the first time right now and it sounds the way Autumn feels. I need more.

  • Loganlofi

because I cried when I saw them play in a tiny art space on the border of queens, sitting on a blanket on the floor while nursing a beer and rocking subconsciously back and forth. because their music sends chills down my spine to rival a breeze in the middle of winter. because the shimmering tonal element in the music reminds one of rubies, emeralds, and sapphires, allowing an appropriate nature to their moniker. because I crammed a bunch of crappy, flowery, pretentious language into a comment box in a desperate grab for an amazing musical artificat.

  • http://coclea.tumblr.com David Melo

I have a out-of-bodie experience listen to “spine”. I’ve missed one day of work when I finally got the opportunity to hear the album ”breakers”. According to my last.fm account I’ve heard the single “breakers” 45 times non-stop when it came out. I ”have never known anyone” who wants to marry an ep named “acid and everything”.  I don’t want to win, I just don’t want anything besides that.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Emma-Tveit/606085002 Emma Tveit

Gem Club’s music is quiet in is brilliance and brings with it a soothing, mellow mood. It is the perfect music for any dark fall night when I have had enough of work and stress. Cuddling up in the couch with a warm cup of tea and Gem Club in the CD player will do wonders for the looming winter depression, so well known to all Norwegians. I should win the items because I love the music, and because I really need it to survive the IB.

  • SodaJuice

There was a strange feeling when i first listened to Breakers, it made me want to cry but in a good way. I showed it to my friend and he said this is awesome what is this i said i don’t know it’s like you are floating through space with a unicorn next to you or something but it would be awesome to win

  • jeffmhunt

    Because I’m not that clever.

  • CH

I’ve just recently challenged a friend to sing in public, because I knew she had a good voice and I want her talent to be enjoyed by everyone. She’s only going to play if I play cello in accompaniment, so we’ve decided to cover some Gem Club songs.

I want to give her this as a gift, to show her the definition of genuine talent, as well as inspire her to share her talent with others.

  • Sean Stickland

I wouldn’t be able to afford it otherwise…

  • Keith.

Simple: I would enjoy the hell out of it.

  • Yuji

Because you break my heart. Over and over again.

  • Nathaniel Reich

Because Gem Club is beautiful. I barely know them, but it inspires me day by day. I waited on the new album, get satisfied just to have free tracks. And because I can’t afford it, I can only buy the regular CDs, after all…

On top of that, it’s because I want it, want it so very bad. I love Gem Club’s music as much as I love pizza (she’s my wife).

part of me thinks i don’t deserve this because on re entry to the east i have not been as engaged in the gem club movement as i should be. the other part of me thinks i do because i have refused the city in favor of receeding as far into the woods as possible and have dedicated my life to weaving powerful kouter catchers to keep evil forces at bay. this benefits mankind.

  • David

I love what you guys are doing. Cheers for the new album!

  • Anairda

I have recently discovered your band and have consequentially fallen in love. Your melodies are incredibly beautiful and soothing and I would be ecstatic if I won. I don’t have a heart break story or even and inspirational reason for why I HAVE to have this package, but I would really love it. You are quickly becoming one of my favorite bands at the moment. Good luck on all of your endeavors.

While I have HUGE respect for your long-time fans, I just became a fan TODAY.  What better way to set me up to spread the Gem Club word than to shower me with a Gem Club package?  My 18-year-old son will swoon over the vinyl and help you go viral at UCSB.  And I’ll wear the T to my band’s gigs.  Then when people ask, “What’s a Gem Club????”  Well, you get the picture!

i put sea glass in a love letter. he sent me a bird’s nest in return. over time, there was also red thread, an acorn, a wishbone, a bottle found in a tree, a lizard’s jawbone, teeth. i eventually buried everything in a tin with a lid displaying a lord and lady dancing next to a willow and a serpent. i hadn’t thought about any of this for over a year, until hearing “twins.”

  • Othernathan

I want this because people tell me i’m lost. lost when i am listening to your music, lost when i am busy growing old instead of growing up. but, i’m not lost. we’re not lost, we are exploding.

i just finally got my dad’s old record player restored and working perfectly, so i’ve started collecting all the albums i’ve wanted to hear for the longest time on vinyl.  i can’t think of a better artist to put on start to finish and chill to.  plus that vinyl package looks simply gorgeous!

    2 reasons:

    1. I love acid and everything and have promoted it to friends far and wide.
    2. I just put an axe through my foot. It hurt. It bled. I’m recovering now. This gift would definitely speed the healing.
