Superb summer vibes coming from the Land of the Rising Sun, say hello to Friends aka Shota Kaneko and pals, whose dead honest 60s surf pop reverence already made some blog rounds late last year after dropping some rough demos via bandcamp. The roughness prevails as the band is about to put out their proper debut, a 10 inch named Let’s Get Together Again, which is going to be released by Japanese imprint Second Royal Records in October. Friends’ sound drowns in a surge of washed-out noise and guitar fuzz, but despite being hopelessly lost in a maze of Wilson-dripping nostalgia, Our Love Is True has everything to become my favorite summer jam in an instant.
