obe:lus: “The Days Have Worn Away”.

The Wire has pointed to the latest EP by obe:lus, which is the recording moniker of Sean Albiez, co-editor of Kraftwerk: Music Non-Stop. The ambient techno of I Saw No Shadow of Another Parting From Her (the EP’s name is of course borrowed from Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations, as are the tracks’ titles) was made using very early voice recordings unearthed via FirstSounds.org. “The Days Have Worn Away” employs a re-processed recording of Édouard-Léon Scott de Martinville singing the traditional French lullaby “Au Clair de la Lune“. Listen to the magnificent result below and get the whole EP over here.
