Alps: “Stay Gold”.

We’ve had the honor to showcase some of New South Wales, Australia’s Chris Hearn’s splendid work as Alps earlier this year in February and so we’re now more than delighted to hear the news that the lo-fi garage wiz has hooked up with Shawn Reed and his Iowa City-based yet curiously down under-affectionate imprint Night-People.
Alps’ self-titled C-30 tape will be dropped sometime soon (once Reed’s own Wet Hair have returned from their tour through Australia), and until then you may enjoy the first track “Stay Gold” both visually and aurally, a tune that’s considerably more stripped-down and unwrought than Hearn’s previous efforts, a fact that actually makes his music assort quite well with a lot of other stuff from the label’s wonderful roster.
