Pretty Lightning: “An Old Wife’s Tale”.

Usually playing drums and guitar in the “ritualistic neo hippie spook folk collective” Datashock (which also features Pascal Hector of Meudiademorte Records), Christian Berghoff and Sebastian Haas from the placid town of Saarbrücken in the deepest southwest of Germany have recently formed Pretty Lightning, a project likewise devoted to psychedelia yet more focused on pop structures (judging from the few cuts that have reached our ears so far) that all in all appears to be at least slightly reminiscent of earlier Yeasayer or, even more strikingly, Sleepy Sun. The great Toddfather seems to be a fan, as he has asked the duo to contribute to this year’s most unanticipated and unlikely compilation, Olde English Spelling Bee’s Should Have Been Dead on a Sunday Morning tribute to Creed.
This morning, the duo’s first original effort has surfaced: An Old Wife’s Tale is a track off the already finished debut full-length There Are Witches in the Woods, for which the guys are currently looking for an imprint to put the thing out on vinyl. So if you run a label, contact us or the band immediately – cause if one song justifies any predictions, for sure you won’t regret.
