Our very much admired LA dude Allister Izenberg returns with a new tune that sets sail into very promising new spheres: While his free Lonesome EP (introduced back in July) was a reduced piece with sparse instrumentation drenched in that certain kind of timid intimacy experienced by a lonely young boy in the huge metropolis, Golden Girl is significantly more mature, showing a remarkable shift regarding songwriting craft as well as sequencing and producing. The song features a very catchy guitar/sampled string section and Allister’s signature falsetto-leaning voice, adding up to a perfectly lush folk pop song that still has a subtly melancholic undertone to it.
